Prades mountains are a real treasure of nature in the province of Tarragona, which offer shelter to a rich biodiversity. A walk through the various hills and valleys of the Prades mountains provides a unique experience. There are multiple contrasts and landscapes of extraordinary value. The plains of Motllats continental climate, the shadowy slopes where yew, oaks and maples inhabit, the typically Mediterranean sunny slopes with oaks, pines and hollies, or the fresh vegetation of rivers, such as the Brugent and Siurana rivers are some examples of this ecosystem richness. We can find true gems of nature, like the only Pyrenean oak population of Catalonia; on the hill of the Baltasana; or the threatened Bonelli's Eagle, which nests in Baltasana’s imposing limestone cliffs.
This site was inhabited for many years to the present as the many prehistoric evidences show us. There are also many villages and country houses. Some of them are abandoned but others are being rebuilt and recovered. The small villages still have a strong rural character. Some of these villages are closely linked to forestry and agriculture, and we can enjoy here fresh local products such as the ‘Potato Prades’ with has a Protected Geographical Indication mark that guarantees its excellent quality.

THE BIRTH OF THE RIVER SIURANA
Siurana River rises in the western slopes of the mountains of Prades and, like other major rivers in these mountains, maintains a constant flow with the substrate plays through, carving canyons, creating puddles, water jumps and corners of a large beauty. From the village of Febró, located at his birth, the river has shaped a valley dominated from the cliff by the impregnable Siurana, the last stronghold of the Moorish occupation in Catalonia. To discover this valley, we propose a passage from l'Arbolí Febró even, through the Gorg and the abandoned village of Gallicant.
We left the Febró following the river along a wide, following the mark of the road network *. We crossed the river several times, left the track and continue down the path of the old Quatre Molins, in some parts paved, enjoying the gorge carved by the River. The road ends leading to the river above the mill of Esquirol. The cross to follow the PR * Gorg getting us to where the water puddles and we can bathe. From here, following the GR *, ascend to the village of Gallicant, now abandoned, and reach the village of Arbolí.

Brugent RIVER AT THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAINS PRADES
Brugent River is, together with the river Siurana and Glorieta, major arteries in the mountains of Prades. A river that makes its noise and its power to move the gears of thirty mills. The people of Capafonts, located at the foot of his birth, surrounded by the imposing mountains that make up its head, crowned with the Baltasana Tossal, the top of the Mountains of Prades and where is located the only community of Pyrenean oak Catalonia. Quite a trip to enjoy the river, from its waters to the highest point on its head.
We left the village of Capafonts following the road network to the bridge * Vell, where you will find the Mill Més Amunt. We follow the river to turn left a path that leads to the shrine of Barrulles. From here we will pick the path that leads to more than Gravat, formerly surrounded by crops and where you can still see a paved tank. Continue up until you find the ridge road, marked as GR *, which leads to the Baltasana Tossal. From here we descend the GR * to Prades. We left the village to the south toward the shrine of the Abellera, mimicked in the red rock which shelter. From there go down the path that passes through the limited source of Abellera to take the broad road that takes us back to Capafonts.

SEA VIEW HILLS CONS
The village of L'Albiol, nestled under the towering castle, situated in a high miranda overlooking the Costa Dorada, on clear days you can spot from Montserrat to the Ports. The legend says that from here Mallorca Jaume I saw and decided to conquer the island occupied by the Saracens from the port of Salou. The small core housed only a portion of the population, mostly located in various villages scattered throughout the extensive term. During this walk we will see some, like Mas de Nebot, before the s. XV or the Mas de la Poda, known in the eighteenth century as the Poor pruning. And visit the ruins of its activity, as the ice well the major source of the seventeenth century.
We left the village of L'Albiol by Grauet (GR *), the old way of communication with the Mussara and still retains some of its pavement. With its gentle curves we take off to Coll, where he sighted the ruined farmhouses d'en Coll and d'en Grado, with a round tower and situated in the old term of Mussara, walk to the Motllats. Go down the old road to Reus in Prades (GR *) but traditionally very deteriorated pavement in some sections. Shortly after the source of Roure, located in the Mussara Recingle, let the GR * to take the road which runs Peiró Plans to Mas de Nebot and the remains of the ice well the Major Source. Later we find the source and climb your way back Albiol, enjoying the same views as the old mountaineers.

THE HIDEOUT CARLIST
Vilaplana lies at the foot of the Mountains of Prades, seen from above the deserted village of Mussara. The two villages, towering cliffs and valleys we offer great scenic beauty, which were also a refuge for guerrillas. One of them, the Carlist leader Cercós, died in the cave called the Hospital of the Carlist, and was secretly buried in the cemetery of La Mussara. Legend has it that the hatred that gave rise to their liberal enemies made a group out to the cemetery and, failing to find the tomb, a symbolic shot of the boxes, where the grandmother was buried Boronada.
Vilaplana we left the village towards the path of Tosques, labeled PR * and largely paved, and climb up the mountain across the canyon several times. We're going to Mussara with the Punta de las Airasses as privileged viewpoint of the Costa Dorada. Of the Airasses, we go down the path of Masos, following the road network * plan until we find the path to the path of Garrigots, leading us back to the village, descending from the towering cliffs in the fertile valley.
