In 1245 the archbishop granted permission to the inhabitants of Vinyols to build their own church, dedicated to St. Caterina of Alexandria.
The present church, built in the Baroque style between 1770 and 1778, is located on the previous one, has three spacecraft and has a cross plan with the main axis EO of 29.60 m and orientation axis NS of 26 , 30m. Free guided visits to the Church
Since July 2017, every first Sunday of the month, free guided visits to the Church are offered.
These visits are an initiative of the Vinyols i els Arcs Town Council which, through the Department of Culture, has established an agreement with the parish with the aim of disseminating and disseminating the artistic and architectural heritage of the municipality.
