Get to know the tower Cal Torratxar and Cal Màdico
The watch or defence towers of L'Arbocet are also colloquially as the Moorish towers, especially those built in coastal areas in the periods when Turkish and North African piracy dominated the western Mediterranean. In the Baix Camp, there are abundant throughout the plains. Some are well preserved, others demolished or with only traces of having existed remaining.
L'Arbocet towers are the best preserved in the region. They are unique in the fact that in the same village there are two towers. One has a round base and it is located within the village (Cal Torratxa tower); the other is rectangular base, at the entrance to the village (Cal Madico). Its origins date back to the twelfth century when the parish belonged to the barony of Escornalbou and the archbishop of Tarragona.
